Let's Talk Property Management

Are we moving towards a "Paperless Society"? If so, are you (or your company) taking steps in that direction too?

We seem to hear a lot of talk about going "paperless", as well as more solutions in the marketplace to help make that easier for individuals and businesses - both small and large.

Is this a trend you're personally experiencing or participating in?

Is your company taking strides to become more efficient, and to reduce paper use (and waste)?

Please provide us any examples you can share, and maybe how this has helped make your work environment different than it was before. I look forward to your comments!

Ken,

I definitely think that the trend is heading that way. Much like movies and music have moved to the virtual world, I feel more and more processes consumers and businesses used to do via paper are falling to the wayside and fast. A big example of this is the banking industry and most service providers have switched to paperless statements and online transactions.

As a matter of fact, my business was developed around the new paperless era. Those homeowners, renters and businesses who had previously chosen to be proactive and complete an itemized inventory of their possessions are now looking for a means of storing them electronically, where they can access them 24/7 from a secure internet connection. No more wasting paper and printing one off and storing it at the bank. With our inventory solution, they can update their inventory in minutes and if they ever have to file a claim they simply run a report through our system and email it directly to their agent or if they had previously granted their agent view rights they could simply call them up and tell them to export a report and start the claim.

Times are definitely changing. Studies have shown that handwriting skills are fading as the digital world is taking over. Next in line is verbal communication skills as more and more turn to the computer, email and the biggest new technological wave....text messaging.

Hi Ken,
Rentmatic (my company) helps eliminate paper through technology. We offer an online solution for landlords to manage their rental properties, including online rent roll, online rental applications and e-checks. You can check it out here: www.rentmatic.com.

Hello all,

we are really moving towards "paperless" communication. We are not a property management company, but we serve nearly 100 property management companies in total by enhancing their communication with tenants and landlords.

As an example, one of our customer has over 200 blocks of flats under management and one of those  blocks was the most time consuming one. After implementing Howzee.Info as a communication tool between property manager and block, the workload decreased considerably.

Have a great summer!!

I began using an online rent payment system about 6 months ago through http://www.payrentchex.com not only does the system prevent unnecessary tasks and use of sending paper invoices, envelopes, stamps and trips to the bank but is also a very efficient system for my property managers to use.
