I am currently reading
The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. In the early part of the book, the author shares a story about a man who comes to him, feeling totally defeated, and stating that "everything had been swept away." The discussion that follows serves to bring to surface a list of the assets the man had retained, though he'd been through significant trials. The list included:
- A strong marriage to a wonderful wife
- Devoted children who love him, regardless of current circumstances
- Friends who esteem him and who sincerely want to help him
- Integrity that had come from making good choices in his life
- Good physical health
- Living in the USA, a land of opportunity
- A strong faith
During the last year, so many people have suffered various trials. This excerpt from
The Power of Positive Thinking is a timely reminder of the value that comes from counting our blessings and the strength we can derive from not getting mired in our sufferings.
In honor of Thanksgiving, I invite you to participate in remembering what you are most thankful for.
I'll start . . . see below.
