"That is interesting. How much do you charge for these services? Or do you get a fee from the vendor you use to perform the service?"

Hotels Play 'Gotcha' With Fees, And Vacation Rentals Win

Reading a recent article titled "Hotels Pile on Fees, Making Vacation Rentals Look Even Better" on Alfred & Emily Glossbrenner's FullyBookedRentals.com (a membership site for vacation rental owners), I had a flashback.Suddenly, I was staring at bill for $46-and-change, a charge for "Refreshment Center Food" mailed to my home days after I checked out of a fashionable Santa…See More

After spending hours online searching for vacation rentals for my family, I looked for a book or Web site listing the best homes for rent.

I haven't found it yet.

So I created Beach Vacation Rental Scout. I handpick and personally review individual homes and local rental management companies with great inventories who offer great customer service (and often boutique hotel-style amenities).

Right now Beach Vacation Rental Scout barely covers California. But, I am working hard to expand to other prime beach locations in the U.S.

Recommendations and referrals are always welcome!

The Power of a Personal Recommendation

There's nothing quite as enticing as what follows "You HAVE to try...."

A personal recommendation -- making one, or taking one -- is one of the warmest ways to connect with another person. The advice of travelers who share your preferences for hole-in-the-wall restaurants the locals line up for and off-the-beaten-path pleasures can literally transform your experience of a place.

As a local rental property manager, you can be a fantastic source of personal… Continue
