Property Management Software Advice, a free online resource for software buyers, has announced a new designation aimed at recognizing property management companies that are using the industry’s latest technology.

The Tech Savvy Property Manager Designation rates technology adoption in the areas of tenant convenience, property owner collaboration, and property manager efficiency. As a company with extensive experience in the property management software industry, Software Advice is in a unique position to evaluate technology adoption by property managers. In the last year, Software Advice has helped over 500 property managers find the best property management software for their business.

"Software companies have made great strides in recent years to bring the latest technology to the property management industry. Companies that adopt these new technologies are delivering a higher quality experience to their customers," said Software Advice CEO Don Fornes. "We want to recognize those companies that are a making an effort to better serve their customers and their tenants through technology adoption."

The TSPM designation rates property management firms in three major areas. In the area of tenant convenience, property managers are rated on their capacity to provide tenants with electronic services, such as electronic bill payment, online unit viewing and online maintenance requests. In the area of property owner collaboration, property managers are rated on how well they’re able to deliver information to property owners, for example notification of service requests and online access to company reports. Finally, management efficiency is rated on a property manager’s capacity to electronically complete normal management tasks, such as work orders, bank deposits and property advertising.

Property managers are encouraged to apply for the TSPM designation on the Software Advice web site, where they will be asked to complete an application regarding their technology capabilities. Upon completion of the application and a telephone review, qualified property management companies will receive a badge to display on their web site promoting the TSPM designation. Software Advice will periodically update the TSPM designation to include new criteria as technologies and market demands evolve.
